My first quarter at UW was all remote learning. I found this to be especially challenging when taking my first computer science class, CSE 142.

Since I had no coding knowledge previous to this intro course, my first assignment was especially intimidating. When I got my grade back, I saw that I had gotten a low score on two out of the four categories. However, due to the difficulty of learning online the professor of the course allowed students to resubmit some assignments throughout the quarter. After redoing the first assignment, I was able to get a perfect grade in each of the categories. This experience showed me that I had made significant progress throughout the course, and it encouraged me to continue studying.

CSE 142 has been rewarding as I have been able to learn a totally new skill. Previous to this class, I had an interest in learning to code but I did not have many opportunities to learn. Through this class I learned that I enjoy coding and I want to continue taking coding courses at UW. Through other design projects I have been apart of this quarter, I have seen how useful coding can be when making digital applications or solutions with robotic components.
