I view the experience of higher education as a process to equip myself with many of the necessary skills to achieve my future goals. This perspective shaped my personal path to UW and the Honors Program. When applying to colleges, I was particularly drawn to UW because of its academic reputation. I was aware of the numerous research opportunities and student resources available at UW, specifically in the design and engineering majors. I saw UW as a place to continue growing intellectually.  I was initially attracted to the Honors Program as I value interdisciplinary learning and the ability to potentially take accelerated courses. Throughout high school, I became increasingly interested in the intersection of design, engineering, and social justice. With my time at UW and in the Honors program I hope to expand my design, engineering, and computer science knowledge. Additionally, I wish to explore the environmental and social implications of what I design. I hope to be able to identify not only what is important to design, but who needs to be designed for. I expect to practice the knowledge I gain in my classes through independent projects, extracurricular activities, and in research projects. Similar to my academic goals, I desire to grow personally in multiple ways. Participating in the Honors program will allow me to socialize with intelligent students of all different ages and backgrounds. I hope to form social connections, learn from others, and broaden my perspective on the world and my place in society.
