Throughout my first year at UW I participated in HuskyADAPT (Accessible Design And Play Technology), which is a club of students that work in teams to modify toys to make them accessible for individuals with disabilities. I worked on a Remote Vehicle Team, in which I collaborated with my peers to adapt a children's vehicle for a physical therapist who works with children. Through this project I gained experience with rewiring electronics, collaborating with peers, time management, and coding. At the end of the year, our team talked with others about our progress on our project and shared a poster (shown below).
In addition to modifying the children's car, my team worked on researching how to develop a Bluetooth app that parents and therapists could use as a spare remote. Although we did not finish coding and deploying the app, we prototyped different ways the app could be implemented (as shown below).
