Throughout my first year I participated in a Design For America (DFA) team. Throughout the year, our team worked to create a solution to the question, "How might we mobilize customer bases to foster social connections and convenience between a community and its restaurants?". Through the project I gained experience with different stages of the design process. We spent multiple months collecting research in order to define the problems within the scope of our project, including conducting interviews and collecting survey data. Once we finished our preliminary research, we ideated our solution by sketching and prototyping design ideas. Our final solution, Zest, is an app for the restaurant owners and customers which we prototyped using Figma.
Our team presented at the DFA Showcase at the end of the year to share our project with others. In addition to a live presentation, we created a poster for people to learn about our project (shown below).
Zest's splash screen (shown below to the left) and various screen designs (shown below to the right) were worked on by all group members throughout our meetings. Our design solution includes features such as allowing customers to learn and leave direct messages to restaurant owners, give restaurants public reviews, and create lists of restaurants.
